Mackay Lowrie of Roxbury Latin is our latest featured prep athlete

If Mackay Lowrie’s highlight tape doesn’t get you pumped for Saturday prep school football games, I don’t know what will. I haven’t seen any QB in the ISL this good since Jordan Johnson of Brooks/BYU (QB/DB). The Boston College commit from Roxbury Latin led the ISL with 1500 yards passing. He was also 3rd in the ISL with 500 yards rushing. Also note, ISL football teams only play 8 games a season. We hope Lowrie helps RL find success this fall.  It’d be sweet to see him in a few years bringing BC back into the top 25!

National Champs? Boston College men’s hockey team is just stacked with preps

Two Nobles athletes making the news

Noble & Greenough junior forward Chris Calnan has committed to play hockey for Jerry York and the Boston College Eagles starting in 2013. Calnan will join a strong Boston College team that has dominated Hockey East in the past decade, as rival Boston University has slipped.

Oliver White of Noble & Greenough School was selected as the 2011-12 Gatorade Massachusetts Boys Soccer Player of the Year. White is the second Gatorade Massachusetts Boys Soccer Player of the Year to be chosen from Noble & Greenough School.

The 5-foot-11, 165-pound senior forward scored 15 goals and passed for six assists this past season, leading the Bulldogs (13-3-1) to the New England Prep School Athletic Council Class A tournament quarterfinals. White is a two-time Independent School League Offensive Player of the Year. He concluded his prep soccer career with 41 goals and 16 assists.

White will be taking his soccer skills on the road to Harvard next fall.
