Anyone who knows me will tell you immediately that I hate Sperry’s. This hate is not completely out of left field: although they look good and used to be a good choice for any occasion, they have been killed. Kids who aren’t preppy, who don’t even know what preppy is, decide that they like Sperry’s. Someone please inform me when it became okay for non-preps to wear Sperry’s and who even inspired them to put their feet in our most-coveted footwear. This factor, combined with the fact that the majority of kids who own Sperry’s never will truly use the shoe for it’s original purpose: a deck shoe. If it’s not teak, then it’s not a deck that warrants deck shoes; this is a very simple concept.

So here is my recommendation to all preps: invest in a pair of European loafers. Simply put, they will never been taken from us and they look good with any attire.
