
From WickedLocal.comBy Chris Reagle10/21/2011Culminating months of speculation and anticipation, the Tabor Academy Board of Trustees has named a new headmaster to the Ivy League private college preparatory school.John H. Quirk Jr., a long-time Brooks School administrator, was selected to succeed Jay Stroud, who served as Tabor Academy’s headmaster for 22 years. Stroud will retire in June of 2012. Quirk starts his new position on July 1, 2012. He was officially named as “Head of School” on Oct. 15.Quirk has spend the past 25 years of his professional career at the Brooks School in North Andover, Massachusetts, serving in a variety of positions. His most recent position was as Associate Head of School Affairs. He also served as Dean of Students and Afternoon Programs, Co-Dean of Students, Coordinator of School Exchange Programs, and as instructor of Greek and Latin.He also served 21 years as a dorm parent, and coached three varsity sports. We have blogged about the outgoing Tabor Academy Head of School in the past. Mr. Stroud was pretty boss, doing the Dougie and diving into the ocean with his graduating seniors. Now it seems like Tabor has really hit the big time. According to the article above, they have joined the Ivy League!
