I stumbled across this dude a few days ago and to say the least, I’m pretty impressed. I’ve only listened to his “Henry on The Rocks 3: King John Ill” mixtape but it was enough to get me hooked. Here’s one of my favorites off the tape, enjoy.[youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yj-UTP6oUo]

Game’s new album is unreal. I’m a huge fan of his flow, but I see you all out there who don’t listen to him. He’s a little hard I admit it. Check this song though, it shows a different side of him for sure. Plus you got Cole to balance him out. Enjoy![youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7vN_mHnGq4]
Here’s another one. This one’s off Cabin Fever 2. Mixed feelings about the mixtape but this song just sang to me, no pun intended. Music video works with it too. What do you think?[youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bi_e99Faerk]
Arguably one of the most anticipated releases of the year, The Weeknd is releasing his 3 mixtapes in one compilation including 3 new tracks. Thursday, House of Balloons and Echoes of Silence are completely remastered by The Weeknd’s new team since signing to Universal Recently. If you haven’t heard The Weeknd before, now is the time to step up and check him out. (You probably have; he was featured on Drake’s Crew Love from Take Care.) Trilogy is being released on November 13th.
Check out prep school grad, Sammy Adams’ new single “All Night Longer.” It’s a pretty sweet upbeat track good for a night out. Play this at a Sweet 16 or House Party, and things will get going.
Seeing as Sammy Adams went to prep school, and makes sick music, we’re currently trying to set up a Sammy Adams concert in conjunction with Twines & Vines for MA prep schoolers in the near future.
For you dubstep lovers out there here’s one for you. I never liked any dubstep stuff but something about this song caught my ear. Let us know what you think.[youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=auFtHzMJ7NI]
…Lana Del Rey of the Kent School.
Who is Lana Del Rey? I asked myself the same question because I am probably not her demographic. I’m a prep, not a hipster. I watched a few of her videos and she has a decent voice. Kind of an American Amy Winehouse, but a lot less dead.
Del Rey went to the Kent School in CT at age 14 because her parents wanted her to quit drinking. From her GQ article:
While dispelling rumours of her past put to her by the interviewer, Del Rey revealed that her parents sent her to Kent school, a strict boarding school in Connecticut, at the age of 14 to help kick her drinking habit.
She said: “I was a big drinker at the time. I would drink every day. I would drink alone. I thought the whole concept was so f-ing cool. A great deal of what I wrote on ‘Born To Die’ is about these wilderness years.
“My parents were worried, I was worried. I knew it was a problem when I liked it more than I liked doing anything else. I was like, ‘I’m f-ed. I am totally f-ed’.”
This is definitely the first time I heard of someone whose parents sent them to boarding school and expected them to quit drinking.
Here’s a senior straight out of Boston. Goes to school in Wellesley (preppiest town in the Greater Boston area). Peep this link to see his whole mixtape. The best songs are “Another Number” and “What’s the deal”. Support this man.
Peep Joey Bada$$. I heard about him from an article in XXL. Reminds me of oldschool Nas, what do you think?
Aer’s new album, “The Bright Side” really impressed my but this “Songbird” has something to it that makes it an absolute hit. Enjoy.[youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8B7Ly1Z0tyk]
