Happy Thanksgiving!

There is NOTHING better than turkey & football. Of course, prep schools do not have Thanksgiving football games, since boarding students go home or to a friends house for Thanksgiving. Our football season is over. However, there will be tons of great football on TV today and this weekend with college football rivalries on tap.

Have a great weekend!

Harvard Yale Game

Despite the outcome of today’s rivalry matchup, Yale will always be superior due to the fact a group of Yale students disguised as Harvard pep rally members fooled thousands of Harvard students and alums to hold up an intricate grid of signs saying ‘WE SUCK’. My former english teacher/advisor was good friends with the Yale tricksters. Enjoy this timeless prank.

Milton Academy @ St. Sebastian’s ***Under The Lights***

If you’re around Boston tonight, head over to St. Sebastian’s in Needham. 7pm under the lights. Both school are undefeated. More info can be found on the FB event wall here.

If you can’t make it to the game, or just can’t wait to see the action, here’s what’s in store for Milton’s backfield. Meet Connor Strachan ’14. Strachan has been getting tons of legit D1 looks lately including BC, Stanford, and ND. He will eat you.

Milton Academy sophomore helps Mustangs give opponents the boot

Milton Academy’s Justin Yoon, ’15

From Bostonherald.com

MILTON — Milton Academy sophomore Justin Yoon wasn’t surprised when the coaching staff called on him for the fourth time to attempt a field goal in last Saturday’s game against Lawrence Academy.

When Yoon trotted onto the field in the third quarter and noticed the spot, he was taken aback. He was being asked to kick a 53-yard field goal to extend his team’s 17-14 lead. Yoon had already connected from 37, 46 and 42.

But 53 yards?

“He was just having a great day, that was pretty clear,” said Milton Academy coach Kevin Macdonald. “His last field goal cleared it pretty easily. I thought if he could get it off, he would be fine.”

Yoon was more than fine. He split the uprights for the fourth time in the game as the Mustangs went on to take a 27-21 victory in the Independent School League opener.

ISL football is pretty wide open this year. Should be fun to see M/A play Nobles. Doesn’t everyone in the I.S.L. pretty much root against Nobles?

This University of Miami football rant is an instant classic

I have friends at The U. It’s an awesome school, but it has fallen on a tough times for the football team. It is not the Outlaw U like on ESPN’s 30 for 30 film.

Listen to this insane former Miami  Hurricane ballplayer just go off on the team for losing to Kansas. Absolutely instant classic. Check out the 2:40 mark.

It’s time for some football, y’all!

Kickoff tonight with two of the preppiest schools in the SEC: Vanderbilt v. South Carolina. The Commodores vs. the Gamecocks. Can you feel it, deep down in your plums???

Vandy has the coach who said that he only hires assistant coaches with hot wives (because it shows that they can “recruit”) and Carolina has one of the greatest college coaches of all time in Steve Spurrier.

CAROLINA GAMECOCKS

VS.

VANDERBILT COMMODORES

Mackay Lowrie of Roxbury Latin is our latest featured prep athlete

[youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Dtno951ld0]

If Mackay Lowrie’s highlight tape doesn’t get you pumped for Saturday prep school football games, I don’t know what will. I haven’t seen any QB in the ISL this good since Jordan Johnson of Brooks/BYU (QB/DB). The Boston College commit from Roxbury Latin led the ISL with 1500 yards passing. He was also 3rd in the ISL with 500 yards rushing. Also note, ISL football teams only play 8 games a season. We hope Lowrie helps RL find success this fall.  It’d be sweet to see him in a few years bringing BC back into the top 25!

Rate these new Notre Dame football uniforms

Since most of my family went to Boston College, I was raised to not like Notre Dame. Their football team has been easy not to like. They seem to always underachieve, and have not been relevant in the past ten years. ND is a big attraction to my fellow preps at St. Sebs, but the gold helmets don’t have that much attraction for the rest of us.

Now ND is changing their uniforms to try to compete with all of the schools like Oregon rocking Nike swag. This is an epic fail on two counts. Number one: Adidas. Remember what Boobie Miles said, “Everybody knows it’s Nikes, Waterbug!” Number two: You can’t change your traditional uniforms unless your school has had a mega scandal (ask your buddies at Penn State).
