Saturday is Lawrenceville-Peddie Day, a time for longstanding rivals to excel in the athletic arena and also to work together for a common cause. Lawrenceville and Peddie school student-athletes have been rivals for more than a century, but for the past two years, they’ve teamed up to take on a mutual foe: cancer.
Big Red and the Falcons will match up in the second annual Lawrenceville-Peddie Day, hosted this year at Lawrenceville. The schools will compete in boys’ and girls’ cross country, field hockey, football, boys’ and girls’ soccer and girls’ tennis.
Lawrenceville-Peddie Day is held remembrance in of Gerard “Jerry” Hart, a longtime Peddie cross country coach, who died in September 2010 from pancreatic cancer. Both schools are holding fundraisers for the American Cancer Society this week leading up to and during the games.
Good to see preps working together to fight cancer. Don’t forget that Twines & Vines supports prostate cancer research.
